Coming into right relationship with giving and receiving

As we transition out of an extractive and destructive global economic system, we are practicing how to be in balance with giving and receiving in our community. As we share our gifts, learn from each other, expand our capacities and activate our purpose we generate true abundance. It is our life force that creates value and learning how to use it in alignment with ourselves and in connection with a growing community yields exponential returns. We have built the ONE|Boulder App to support us in learning together, transparently and explicitly.

The app can be used to celebrate other Players, make contributions visible, make and fulfill requests, and make and accept offers. It is also where upcoming events can be seen and responded to and community updates can be read.

Points

Points are one of the ways we show appreciation for each other, whether it's for help with a personal project or for someone who is simply being awesome and positively impacting your day. We are creating a culture of contribution and celebration and how you show up (or don't) is what makes or breaks The Game.

We use points to make visible the ways that we contribute, support, and celebrate one another. Points are not a currency and therefore do not "purchase" things. Instead they are a way for us to track our personal contributions over time and see how balanced we are in our giving and receiving. Points are created and backed by Life Force - the focused, all-in commitment of a Steward or Regenerator taking 100% responsibility for ensuring the thriving of a specific Domain. Each Domain receives a Monthly Domain Allocation based on the amount of Life Force needed to maintain that Domain. These allocated points are used for shifts & celebrations of support within each Domain. The allocations are as follows:

• ONE|Riverside = 5000 = Life Force of 2 Stewards (full time) & 1 Regenerator (part time)

• The Stand = 5000 = Life Force of 2 Stewards (full time) & 1 Regenerator (part time)

• The Farm = 3000 = Life Force of 3 Regenerators (part time)

Points are generated by supporting community projects or received from other Players for our support or inspiration. Generating is the term we use to acknowledge the value you are adding to this ecosystem. After being generated, points can be shared between members for support in individual, business and community thriving (we call these EFT’s - Essentials for Thriving). Through sending points, we invest in ourselves, our growth and nourishment and support ourselves in generating more goodness into the ecosystem.

The more points we've flowed through us, the more access we have to various community offerings. The points also serve to make the Love Languages more explicit and visible as we learn to make clear and balanced agreements - Words of Affirmation (tags), Acts of Service (fulfilling requests), Receiving Gifts (making offers), Quality Time (generating points), and Physical Touch (which cannot be replicated by technology).

The ONE|Ratio & Flow Volume

We are doing things differently here. Rather than trying to accumulate as many points as possible, we use the ONE|Ratio to indicate how effectively we are generating and flowing resources within the community. Our Flow Volume indicates the sum of points received and points sent by a Player within the App, showing our value contributed over time. The ONE|Ratio is calculated by dividing the number of points sent by the number of points received. The ONE|Ratio will be a percentage between 0% and 100%. We consider this the overall "health" of a Player in The Game. The closer you stay to a 0 balance, the higher your ONE|Ratio will be. This teaches us to trust in life and abundance and to overcome scarcity while not holding on to points. If we continue to show up in service, we will always have what we need and the value generated in this community will keep flowing and growing.

Onboarding to the ONE|Boulder App

The ONE|Boulder App is based around points so only those who have chosen to play The Game are added to the app. People who show up at Action Days or to Support Shifts may be invited to join The Game as an Explorer. To become a Player in The Game, Monthly Membership is required.

Members will also need to sign-off on The Game Guide and attend an Onboarding Session, held Mondays at 4pm at The Stand. This session is a walkthrough of the various features of the app, a time to ask app-related questions, and a time to receive support in knowing how to use the app so you can begin actively playing! After attending a training you will officially become a Player and be sent a one-time Welcoming Bonus of 500 points.

Redefining Value Sessions

Many of us have a tendency to over-generate, to hoard, to over-consume, or to spend frivolously. How we play The Game can probably teach us a lot about how we approach life. Each 4th Friday, there will be a “Redefining Value Session” for the 10 Players with both the highest and lowest ONE|Ratios (Top 5 & Bottom 5) and whoever else wants to attend. These sessions are an opportunity to explore and reveal deeper dynamics of our relationships to money & power. Together we will ask: How can we create a truly balanced and thriving economy and community together (oikos (Greek): our home & -nomy (Greek): how we care for it)?
